So, it's fixed at 1.25V and the asic quality means nothing on these cards. Good to have that established. Why do ASIC quality differ then, also on the GHz edition cards?
AMD still needs to do some binning though, as putting a leaky chip would result in excessive heat with these voltages.

Both ends of the spectrum here regarding ASIC.

The card on the left does 1275 no matter the ambient temps, the card on the right needs very very very low ambient temps to reach 1275.

Both require about the same amount of voltage, ~1.28v, but the card on the right needs the low ambient to get it.

Could you please check the MVDCC current reported by GPU-Z under exactly the same loads for both cards running at the same clocks and same voltages?

My 7950 Boost @ 1200 with an ASIC of 59% Barely hits 65 C on VRMS or core, at 1.25 V (~1.2 actual)...

My ICEQ 7950 non-boost @ 1175 with 74.5 ASIC will almost hit 70 C at 1.2 V (~1.15 actual)....

? Hard to really correlate ?

Could you please check the MVDCC current reported by GPU-Z under exactly the same loads for both cards running at the same clocks and same voltages?


High asic suck for serious overclocking cuz they hit voltage walls because they cannot bleed the excess voltage off. Ever wonder why extreme cooled setups do not use high asic low leakage silicon?

No. Low leakage suck for serious overclocking. "Asic quality" is just some number from some software which may or may not assess the leakage correctly.

I asked grunion to provide some numbers as this can easily show whether I'm right or wrong. Can you live with that or will you go on bullying people?

Whats wrong with that? Were your clocks set to 1150/1650?

I see a VRM out Voltage of 1.189 V actual, max VRM temps of 71 C and a max core temp of 67 C.

Seems reasonable to me. Unless I am missing something
