Zalman 9700LED, fan speed - Page 2

Thread Starter
I have now reorganized the innards of my rig (all cables are now more neatly drawn), and moved the lower fan to the upper front intake. This resulted in a 5 degree (Celcius) drop of CPU idle temp, but my disk pack in the lower section now runs hot (46-51 degrees) - ouch!

I'm now thinking of moving the ceiling exhaust fan to the bottom section - there seems to be a surplus of fannage up top - still no difference between min and max Zalman fan speed...

Also thinking about lapping the Zalman and CPU for improved contact, but that's a later question :-)

SpeedFan reports two other temperatures, System and AUX - anyone know which is what?

Also noticing that according to TAT, CPU 0 always runs hotter than CPU 1, up to as much as 5 degrees...

If you think about it, coolers like the Zalman 9700 must really operate optimally in an upright position, not on the side as when mounted in a tower case...?
