Overclocked i5 2500k locking @ 61c? - Page 2

The guides here are very good. Helped me in the beginning. The most obvious point on your oc is the bclk leave it at 100 . It would seem SB and IB don't like high bus clocks. It can be done but rather get the basics before messing with bus speeds. Bus speeds affect your sata and PCIE lanes that could be causing your issues.

Edit: going to be moving about some hard drives, and looking at the stock clock more closely to see if it's something else.

Check this out as well: http://www.overclock.net/t/1044981/how-to-overclock-2500k-on-gigabyte-z68-ud4-mobo

Unless your chip isn't that awesome, I don't see why you'd need more than 1.35 volts for 4.5Ghz.... good luck mate thumb.gif

Thread Starter
Even at stock, start up is extremely slow. If the temps are fine, but the problem only began with the watercooler, what could it possibly be?

And thanks for the help guys!

Edit: Could it be my hard drive (with windows installed) failing, and my new SSD (also with windows installed) *working on sorting out my files* causing the freezes and slow startup?

Also to one of the comments above, it is 1.356v at 4.5GHz, as you stated for CPU-Z. Running prime now, but it seems to be sticking at 57c for now.

Hour and a half in after manual overclock. 4.5ghz strong, max of 67c, a steady 64, and no freeze this time. AWESOME! Thanks everyone for the help. I think the last problem is my hard drive. Testing that after a few more hours of prime95.

If it happens at stock, it is definitely something with the OS. Either software of the HDD it is installed from. Nice OC biggrin.gif

If it freezes while tabbing I'd be guessing it has to do with some power saving feature not coordinating properly. You need to know if your auto-OC is fixed voltage or offset, and what LLC setting its on. A very possible situation is that voltage fluctuations are out of sync with your clockspeed, leading to instability.
