Amazon is currently offering the 840 for $95

Thinking about snagging this one but I've been reading so much about the TLC NAND's poorer lifespan. Some say it's drastically less than MLC's but others say it doesnt make a difference in the long run. Not sure if i should just wait for newegg's m4 to be restocked.

It's like this, does it matter if your 128GB SSD can last you ~35 years (MLC) or ~12 years (TLC)? That's writing 10GiB of data/day with a fairly high write amplification factor (3x). Realistically speaking, WAF with good controllers would just be at around 2x or less.

Is it true there have been problems with sandforce controllers in the past, but this has been resolved?

Pick up the Vertex 4 or the new Vector series if you are worried...
The Vertex 4 128GB are still around $115.00
From my little research
Vector-Vertex 4 and the Agility 4 all use Indilinx controllers

I have the Vertex 4 128GB and as expected works fine... smile.gif
Everyone here is giving good advice.
Just up to you thumb.gif

Totally unnecesary for her needs. Go with the 840 non-pro, she'd never tell the difference, and you'll save some cash. Even so, you can pick up the 128GB for under $100.

You have a Staples near you? They should have a Kingston SSDNow V300 120GB in stock and there is a 20% off coupon good through tomorrow (Saturday). The price after the discount would be $71.99.
