You can't do wrong with the Extreme4, the TA970XE, or the Gigabyte 970A-UD3. The ASUS M597A EVO is another good choice. Those are the four 970 boards to have. I've had the TA970XE and the UD3 and they are both excellent boards.

This is how much I recommend the Extreme4, Im actually buying it next week so heres an opinion by a fellow buyer, it is the best board you can get from the 970 chipset, you know why... Its the ONLY one that supports CrossFireX due to its enhanced switch. IOf you can get it for under £75 ($116) Then grab it as its worth it

Guess I need to decide between the the Asrock 970 Extreme 4 and the Gigabyte 970A-UD3.
Both sell for $99
The 970-UD3 comes with free shipping.
The Asrock has 5 SATA and the Gigabyte has 6 SATA, which might be the deal breaker.

I'd take the Gbyte everytime there I'd rather more/better phases/VRM than gimmicks like a pointless LED debug thing.

Even though he isnt a first time builder, the Dr.Debug is still a very valuable tool. And ASRock has many features that you cant find on GBite, but yes, More VRMs allways better
