Here's a sneak peak, I'm hoping that the end result is as good as I think it will be.

First mold crashed and burned, not enough hardener in the acrylic molding compound, so going to try again, one thing that I did find out is that it will have a great frosted look that should really pop out with my red LED's. also found out that I need to make it thicker than I originally thought.

Finished the project today, I used a clear polyester resin instead of a 2 part epoxy resin, and it hardened in a few hours instead of being tacky still after 30 hours. I did learn a lot about using it, like to be patient and not add too much hardener, since that caused the casting to shrink a little.

One advantage of the polyester resin is that I was able to add some dye, and I chose to add some blood red UV dye which turned the casting pink (like fluorescent day glow pink) BUT with the back painted black it took on a really cool rust color, so I decided to change my design a bit and painted most of the front to mimic the "thawing" scene from return of the Jedi where the carbonite glows red and Han comes free. I think it turned out pretty good.

anyways, I know, Pics or **** so here's the pics of the final product

I'll try and get some better pics in the dark tonight
