Need help buying new card

Thread Starter
Hi everyone, need some more advice from the forum. I just sold my Gigabyte Windforce GTX670 2Gb to a friend. He wanted to upgrade to play Elder Scrolls and i cut him a deal and low balled so he could afford it.

I now find myself without a card and don't know if i should upgrade to a 680 or 7970 or just go for a 670 or 7950. I'd love to get a Gtx690 but alas im not that rich.

well the HD 7950 is a sweet sopt for that performance to price ratio. You could find one' as low as $350.00 plus games which you would usually buy for playing on such cards for free. Performance wise, the HD 7950 Boost outpaces the GTX 670 in all benchenmarks and games and when overclocked, would bring you close to performance of HD 7970 which again is a little slower than the GTX 680.

get a HD 7950 boost for USD 300 and overclock it. the game bundle makes it a very good deal. sapphire HD 7950 boost is a good option. comes with unlocked voltage. good cooler. at the same clocks HD 7950 is 3 - 6% slower than HD 7970. with a bit of tweaking you can get upto 1100 -1150 mhz and match HD 7970 Ghz.

GTX 680 lightning is where its at im running a few of the latest games out right now perfectly on ultra. Temps are amazing, I wouldn't trade this card for anything. I came from a Sapphire 6970.

But is the Gtx680 actually worth it? From all i've seen it isnt that much better than a 670 or 7970.

LOL

get the 7950 and over clock it a little and you will love it smile.gif

Best card for the money hands down, I have build more computer for friends with the 7950 then the 670 or the 680 and they love it smile.gif

(One thing you might want to think about is what you are going to be playing and if you want to get Green because they use the Physix or what ever ... I thought I did and wanted too ... but i look back now and should have just gotten a 7950 ...)

here my three picks!

The only games that i play that use PhysX (that i know of) are Borderlands 2 and the Batman: Arkham games. Everything else is like League, Mechwarrior, The Old Republic and Skyrim.

So the 680 and 7970 just aren't worth the money?
