Xfx 7900gs Extreme Vs Xfx 7900gt

Thread Starter
so i sold my old ram 2 gigs of nanya(crap) and my 7600gs for 200 dollars and i wanted a 7900gt but when i looked at cards (only on newegg cause the plant is like 4 hours form my house so shipping is usually like a day or two) i noticed the 7900gs extreme was better than the gt in every way except 4 pixel pipelines, so i bought that for 50 dollars less. what do you ppl think should i have gotten the gt for the extra 4 pipelines is that a big difference.....

GT > GS. They can both be overclocked like crazy, but the 7900GT is faster clock-for-clock.

Nah, the 7900GS is a great and affordable card that will OC like MAD! You'll be lookin at 625 core and 1700 mem without a hitch most likely. Good choice, you won't regret the decision one bit.

Also FYI, the 7900GS @ 625/1700 performs beyond a 24piped 7800GTX

I run 650/1650, and I can go alot farther with my voltage. The GS is by no means a bad card, but the GT is a better one.

The GS is moe bang for the buck.

As Long As You Got A 7800 Or Better You Will Be Just Fine For Quite A While. I Would Think That Video Card Is Gonna Be Faster Then Your Cpu And That Will Become The Bottleneck In Your System If Not The Fact You Don't Have A 10,000 Rpm Drive.

yah the xtreme comes at 525\\1550 stock compared to the gts 450\\1320 which is what really swayed me to the gs extreme its a considerable difference imo.....and after mail in rebates its 155 compared to 230 for the gt....so its just the 4 pipelines the gt boasts over the gs
