Asus GTX670 weird hissing

Hello,

I just assembled my new rig on a test bench but whenever I load a game like CS GO, the GPU starts to hiss and its not a high pitched coil whine ..

When I start for example a game or bench and I remove the DVI-D or DP cable the hissing is gone... or when I limit the frames to 100.

Tried it both at my work and at home, though both times I had a electronical switch (whatever its called, so you can use more power inlets)

What I have tried:
- 6 PSU's: seasonic, superflower, antec etc...
- 4 diffrent asus motherboards and one gigabyte (exactly same hissing sound from GPU)
- 3 GTX 670 asus cards, one 7750 radeon, one 6870 radeon (same hiss on all cards)
- tried diffrent cpu aswell
- other ssd

If anyone has an input I would be glad, cuz I didnt have this problem before I don't understand. Pretty much not much in the rig has changed.

I am gonna try other nivida driver now and see what happens with that but I doubt it will make any diffrence.

is the hiss coming from the fans? or what? Kind of an odd situation. Do you have any programs installed that would control the fans? My initial thoughts were that it could be that something is causing the fans to spin much faster then need be. I'm really just kind of shooting ideas out because this seems really odd. lol.

Nah I stop the fans myself.

The hissing goes away when I limit the frames to like a 100FPS, but at 250/300fps the electronical noise is there.

The problem is I tested many PSU's also alot of diffrent mobo/gpu etc, so many combinations.

Its really weird:S

Is it like a coil whine kind of thing.
Have you tried underclocking/undervolting the card and see if it still happens.
Some high end parts make weird noises when you draw heaps of load from them.

EDIT (just literally read the post and you said it isn't a coil whine)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the noise you hear is coil whine coming from the fans on the GPU. If my memory serves me right this usually happens when you have an excess amount of fps. Using V-Sync or something like that should fix it. = )

Yea when I limit the frames I dont have the whine and the system is basicly silent. If I stop the fans with my hand and keep the fps high the whine is still there.

There is no whine from mobo or PSU when im doing prime or anything, only in games/benchmarks. And its not really a whine its more of a hissing sound thingy

The weirdest part for me is when I start a benchmark or game and leave it on but I disconnect the DVI cable the whine is also gone.

capacitors on the gpu is the usual problem. who knows maybe the combination between your monitor and gpu make it worse.. i cannot tell u that for sure

I tried diffrent monitors aswell frown.gif

I just tried furmark benchmark, and while im doing 1080 bench with that it doesnt do any hissing.

But when I play cs go it does for example, capping 100FPS does not provide any HISS but 300 does.

Anyone has an idea why it does not do it on furmark 1080p benchmark?

Strange problem..

Was going to say if it was coil whine you could try using the Crysis menu method to see if it would work, but it probably wouldn't. I just got this card today and I really hope I don't have the same issue.
