Trouble maxing out my memory. PLZ HELP?

Hey there. I got a prebuilt desktop from the egg and I'm having an issue with maxing out the memory.

Here's some specs:

Memory Type: DDR3 PC3-12800 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 32GB
Currently Installed Memory: 16GB
Total Memory Slots: 4
Available Memory Slots: 2
Motherboard: GA-78LMT-USB3
CPU: AMD FX 4100 Quad Core @ 3.6GHz

I'm working with two kits of GEIL 8GB x 2 DC memory. I've tinkered with the BIOS as much as I'm comfortable doing as my knowledge of programming is only fair. 2 sticks with a very slight tweak works beautifully. However, all 4 sticks don't work at all. I'm not sure of what to do and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! confused.gif

Hi, 4 ram dimms is harder on the IMC than 2 ram dimms. Increase the DRAM voltage to 1.6 and try again if it still does not work try 1.65. Do not go higher than 1.65. If it works after increasing the voltage then reduce the voltage slowly until it no longer works and then increase it one click.

Also in the manual timings increase the command rate to 2 or even 3 you may have trouble running 4 sticks with a command rate of 1. Also are you running the ram at DDR1600 or DDR1866? You IMC supports 1866 but the ram is only DDR1600 and with 4 dimms probably wont over clock well.

Lastly you can not make use of 16GB of memory let alone 32GB for gaming. If you are using virtual machines or have a program that can use all that memory then great but if not I would ditch the extra 16gb as anything 8gb and up is plenty for a gaming rig.

Thanks a bunch. I'll be aiming for an upgrade in video card instead of going 32GB. Excellent advice and most helpful. thumb.gif
