I don't know about the temps, probably some faulty sensor. If you're talking about your A10 -5800K rig, then the 1GB is probably dedicated as VRAM for your integrated GPU. So 32bit XP recognizes 3.5GB and you "lose" 1GB from the gpu.

4gb usually shows up anywhere b/t 3-3.5GB w/ 32-bit, my guess would be the memory is shared with your APU.

Did you install XP from a disk? Not sure about XP but Win 7 install disks have both 32 and 64 bit versions on the same disk.

Ok... I figured it might have something to do with the dual graphics set up or something.. that's lame though, guess I'll start looking for a 64bit OS lol. Thanks guys.

Did you buy an OEM 32Bit disc? If it is retail your key is good for 32 and 64. Otherwise you may be best off purchasing a Windows 8 upgrade disc. Don't buy OEM get Retail.

Because of legacy and reserved addressing.

Different hardware require different amounts of memory address to map communication to.

A program in 32-bit consumer Windows can only actually use 2GB RAM.... 3GB with a flag.
Once again...

Your operating system is limited to a total of 2^32 bytes of memory, or 4 gigabytes. That includes main system memory as well as any memory for your GPU or APU. There was a 64-bit version of Windows XP, but it was never widely available and had to be purchased separately from standard XP. That changed with Vista and continues with newer versions of Windows and the license now includes both the 32- and 64-bit versions of the OS.
