Wow...

Are graphics cards really that fast? Or are they just utilized better.

Yes, they're really that fast. Chips are MUCH more productive if they only have to do one kind of thing. Since CPUs have a much more diverse set of needs, they're alot slower clock for clock.

At least that's what I've been lead to believe. If someone knows otherwise, please correct me.

So sort of like the reason of why the Xbox can do what it can do, and it only has a 800~ mhz celly, and can pump out graphics similar to some of our stuff that needs like 2.4ghz and higher? Because its only focused on 1 thing, the game?

I think that's more because the software is directly interfacing with the hardware, instead of the PC's system of Game > OS > Driver > Hardware. Although it might be both.

Hehe I might have to fold on my X1950Pro, if it works on there, when I get it.

Oh and don't you get a lot less PPD for folding units done on a GPU?

It's the way they process data, just can't be done. =/.

Hopefully with CUDA the G80 can be a monster folder though.
i thought that it wasnt that it couldnt be done just that it wasnt as productive so they put there efforts into ati instead
