Properly using ATI tool

Thread Starter
Ive been poking around with ATI tool for a while, but never really have understood how to make it work.

I have an X800 GTO unlocked to 16 pipes, that runs stock at 400/490. The Highest OC I have ever achieved is 441/525. Is that a normal clock? From what I have read it is just spit in the bucket.

My question is, when I run ATI Tool how long do i let the benchmarks run before i call it quits?

Overclock the Core and memory seperately.

Just up the mhz by about 5 at a time then scan for artifacts for about 5-10mins. Keep increasing until you get little yellow dots or massive yellow shapes on the cube. If you do drop the mhz by about 1-5. Once you have found that scan the artifacts for about 30mins. This will give you a good reliable outcome. Then do exactly the same for the memory.

I personally dont overclock the 2d clock because its pointless but i overclock the lower and upper 3d the same.

When I tried ATI Tool, I did as you said and I had my Core at 450Mhz, no artifacts on the cube so I upped it another 5Mhz, starting scanning and then my whole screen went blurry, full of artifacts, i managed to reset clocks and stop the scan, but the artifacts remained. I reset my PC, and it still had artifacts in my desktop, I thought I broke my card.

But then I reset once more and everything was back to normal. Phew. But what I am saying is all I went up is 5Mhz from no artifacts at all to millions. Thats why I am still too scared to OC my GPU

Thanks, and another question for you. What is this 2d and 3d clock you speak of?
