I have a HIS 7970 and it is really quiet and cool, under 50% fan speed -- which it should be most of the time. It doesn't overclock well at all, but is a nice card and very quiet.

%100 5 votes for the HIS so far smile.gif

that link is awesome but scares me, since the XFX HD 7970 claims to be at 43dB idle i know it cant possibly get 51dB on load and that chart says its really quiet idle frown.gif

this is torture, i want to invest into a 7970 card to last a long time, i just dont want a LOUD card that i can hear even when idle

i think the HIS is just going to win due to save a little money, overclock a little performance, and not worry about fan noise.. the idle dB is high but at least the load dB isnt much higher frown.gif

LOL .....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=509O-ty5IZ4

definately cant buy the XFX 7970, if it gets THAT loud, i would want to break the computer in which i built to be EXTRA silent, L10GT case, watercooling with RX240 rad bigger rad slower fans...

XFX 7970 defeats the purpose for me smile.gif

XFX should be ashamed at releasing a card that will be louder than the games your playing and the lawnmower outside or if you live next to a train tracks youll hear XFX instead of trains...........
Guess HIS it is smile.gifsmile.gif

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zB7b99THS2c might be a one in amillion but do your HIS cards make a weird noise on idle?

i always question these people who make vids liek this because they could get an rma correct? althought i havent googled it i am scared of googling HIS 7950 problems, every card has problems, but meh

Hell, my two HIS hd 5870's had fans fail.

Current HD 7950 is at 1100 MHz at 1.03 V and +20% power.

Did you RMA them?

I bought a 5850 second hand on here and I assume it had a bad bios flash on it as it started grey screening on me a lot. I sent it in to HIS and within a few weeks I had a brand new in box 5850 sent back to me from HIS no questions asked.

On that note I would avoid XFX as a good friend of mine had his RMA denied due to some sticker residue left on the card and they never even sent the card back, only offered a tour of their RMA facility. http://www.overclock.net/t/761201/xfx-at-it-again-warranty-denial/0_100

wow, good to know, i've never liked XFX since 2003 and now even more reason not to like them, they cheat people out of money and make cards louder than lawn mowers.

i hope your friend went to the limit with them, if they didnt return his card he might as well find a friend of the family who is a lawyer and get a check worth 10x video cards smile.gif

i will be buying the HIS 7950 guys ^^ going to look for the best deal on the internet seeing as tiger_crap_direct doesnt have the good model in store if any of you know any sites hidden in the crevices of the internets let me know smile.gif any penny i save helps

a last concern

this card is going to completely cover the heatsink that says msi, is this card going to transfer more heat to that?

also seems if i do get this card i cant get a waterblock for that chipset in the future either eh? :S
