yea i used to have it filled in but i havent been on the forums in a really long time and when i came back it was gone.

i guess another gig would be ok because when i finally get a new computer i could move it over to that, where if i got the card by the time i got a new computer it would be too outdated. unless they are planning on coming out with DDR3 main memory, are they?

Because DDR2 has had a very short life as main memory and as video card memory, yes. I believe by Q4 2007 Intels wants DDR3 main memory and I think AMD might do it with AM3.

damn so i guess both will be outdated within the year. well i dont really want to spend more than $130 on this system because its kind of old so ill probably only get one upgrade. what do you think for a moderate gamer? more memory or new card?

EDIT: do you think my x800se could handle BF2 good enough? it seems to handle the demo fairly well, not great but ok

A 7600gt will handle bf2 almost all high settings with no AA or 4xAA and medium grapics at 1680x1050. At lower resolutions it can dominate. Or at least mine can. With a vmod and good cooling, these things get close to 7800gt performance.

well technically i dont need either of them. just trying to decide which would be more beneficial. I used to play CS:S all the time and it ran ok, havent played it in a long time though. and seeing as how this is a bit older system, not to mention a dell i dont really want to put too much extra money into it

You can build a C2D system for under a grand with a X1950XT.

im skipping the 2 core generation of computers. im not getting a new computer until 4 core processors are the norm. and hopefully by then theyll have the multi-threaded apps to go along with them
