New rig, but what parts? - Page 2

yeah that ram is a little pricey, I was looking at Corsair Dominator

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145168

but after reading on forums I'm supposed to look out for what chip is in it...I want some Micron chip or smthg and after checking out a site it says only the older version has it so not sure what version I would be getting.

I will definitely be getting a powerful PSU Ninja to play it safe and be future ready...perhaps crossfire R600...but that would be further down the road.

Sort of off topic, but which Ram would be the best for overclocking an E6300?

I'd pick the Crucial any day over the Corsair. Actually I did have the 6400C4 corsair sticks (not the dominators). I did sell them and replace them with the Crucials.

Here is a list from a Canadian vendor. The Team Xtreeme stuff is also good.
Total $1,610.10CAD + that insane sales tax you guys have....

I see you went for the E6300 now..but wow on the quick list making. Does it really matter if I'm overclocking my cpu anyways on which one I get? its not like jumping from E6400 to E6600 with the 4mb cache.

Any thoughts on this monitor

Not a lot of difference between the E6300 and E6400. Since in Canadian funds the budget gets more tight, I choose the E6300 instead. Either will hit an easy 3.0GHz, and could hit as high as 3.5GHz (but then we're talking water most likely).

Regarding your comment about watercooling: given your budget, I don't think it's a good option. You probably can only get an entry level water kit, and high-end air is equally as good, and maybe even better. Only when you get a good custom kit, water is worth it. But then we're talking $250-$300 cooling only.

well I'm not too concerned about money. I just don't want to spend massive amounts of money on a computer...have other things to buy too like christmas gifts for people other than me haha. Monitor is one gift I will be getting so there's a chunk of money knocked off there.

I really like samsung, have a 32 incd lcd for my hdtv set up just that LG one has a 2000:1 contrast ratio while samsung only has 600:1...wish I could actually see these monitors at work before I buy them.

Just FYI about taxes I will be buying from another province and shipping it over so I will only be tax half the tax...7% to be exact.
