They are the next big deal in TVs. They're extremely high-priced, but give you plasma response/black levels/contrast, while being thinner than LED and not having the mirror issue. I think 20" TVs are priced at $25,000+ or something rediculous.

Actually it's not quite THAT bad. LG are shortly launching their first big consumer OLED screen, the 55EM9700 (55EM970V UK designation) for $10-12K or so. This is due out in April. They are also supposed to be bolstering their 5.5 Gen IT production lines this year so things are certainly going forward. Further reading here.

Once they go into mass production price will plummet.

The PS Vita has an OLED screen, and if you've seen it you know the screen is pretty darn nice. But its only 5 inches.

OLED does not use a backlight, each pixel generates its own light, and it can turn a pixel completely off if it wants thus black levels are way beyond any LCD technology. It also uses less power.
