GTX 670 vs GTX 680

Thread Starter
Been thinking about upgrading my GPU (GTX 460, baked) and I'm thinking either a 670 or 680. I went to Passmark's GPU list and it claims the 670 has about 95% of the performance of a 680, which is close enough that I doubt I could tell a difference. Is this true? If so I'd be looking at getting a 670 when my tax return comes in, unless the GTX Titan release causes 680 prices to plummet.

For what it's worth, I can max out every game I play at 1440p except for MechWarrior Online and Planetside 2.

That said, which 670 should I look at? I want something quiet so probably not a reference design. I don't really plan to OC much if at all. Right now they're selling with $50 worth of SOE Station Credits which I could easily use in PS2.

Go for GTX 670 unless you're going for 680 Lightning which is $150+ more than GTX670. There is virtually no performance difference if you're overclocking. Look at those top 30 benchmark threads in the Benchmark forums. You will find 670 and 680 occupying similar standings.

If you can afford, I would get the 680.

For 670
EVGA 670 FTW or MSI 670 Power Edition

Well 670 it is. Thanks guys!

Now to wait for my tax refund...hopefully it can pay for a GPU and a motorcycle cylinder head...

Just to add on, PS2 is CPU bound. I've got a 680 as well, and when I'm maxed out, I'm CPU bound on a 3570k oc'd to 4.5
