CaseLabs Mercury S3 Mini-ITX Case: Now Shipping!! - Page 48

I think the pedestal is extraneous (but a great option to have down the road perhaps) - can't see doing one from the get-go however unless the cost was dramatically different than an SM5 which I would guess it wouldn't be unless the S3's pedestal is soooo much cheaper than any of the others.

However, as an upgrade for someone who's outgrown the cooling capacity of their S3 and doesn't want to part with it (or if I somehow need to add even more hard drives to mine) I guess.

@Stren - sure they are... just not anything heavier than a can of redbull (or good ole coffee in my case). wink.gif

The one thing I can say as a bit of a review on CaseLabs cases - I have an ABS Canyon 595 (basically a higher-end revision of one of the highest-end Lian Li cases if you're not familiar) which I can't even bear to build a 'tertiary system' with used parts in... because it's not a CL case.

The lesser brands are perfectly fine for 'mundane builds' like my workstation at my office (in a Corsair C70 - which feels like a flimsy crapfest in comparison). Not that I'm knocking the C70 - it's great for what it is... and it has decent cooling capacity and drive capacity for not much money. But it will easily get given away or tossed in the garbage if damaged or no longer necessary... where as I will eagerly rebuild my main rig into the same M8 until it falls apart... which I don't see happening for at least 20 years - if ever. smile.gif

If you change cases often... CL may be a rude awakening for you... because it's a total paradigm shift from the "new build=new case" mentality to the "new build=new pedestal+old case" mentality. biggrin.gif

What can I actually put in the pedestal. Can I put ssd are there like mounts for the sdd/hdd also what about a fan controller that needs a 5.25 bay.

The S3 on pedestal next to the TX10 is HILARIOUS

It really shows Caselabs dedication to meeting all wants/needs of customers.

Haha a pedestal backplate and drop in base plate for another miTX rig would be pretty hilarious.
