LG today formally unveiled the Optimus G Pro, a 5.5-inch smartphone that will make its debut at next week's Mobile World Congress.

The device is a followup to last year's LG Optimus G, which boasted a 4.7-inch display. With the 4G LTE Optimus G, however, LG is introducing a smartphone with its largest display to date.

That 5.5-inch full HD IPS display delivers 1,920-by-1,080 pixels and 400 ppi. There's a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera for full HD video capture and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing one for video chat. A 3,140 mAh battery will allow for "hours" of full HD video watching, LG said.

Why would they use the note's button???

I can't wait 'till they get 1080p down to about 4.5" for small handed people like myself.

I don't know what to say. The Nexus 4 has proven to be an amazing phone, I'm just not avid about LG's previous support on non-Nexus devices.

It is now the common practice among manufacturers.

1. Find popular device design

2. Complete minor alterations to design

3. SELL! SELL! SELL!

Hummm....I wonder why Lucky Palmer didn't opt for this display....maybe the response time is too slow?
Oh well, I'm glad to see displays progressing to high ppi like this....the future looks bright for the Rift biggrin.gif

I would like to know what the exact dimensions of the phone are. At 5.5" it seems like a tablet would be the better choice.
