4000 sandy vs fx-55 sandy WHAT SHOULD I GET????? - Page 3

The Opteron 165 is the best option. Between those two chips you listed, definitely the FX-55.

Go with an opteron 165. You won't regret it.

I have to say something here, first off, if you have a nice board you should be able to pull as much out of the proc as you would be able to from an FX-55. As such, the FX-55 is not a good upgrade path for you, it offers nothingmore than a higher multi... which you shouldnt use anyways, as higher multi-lower FSB. The 4000+ is a 3700+ with a higher multi, same core. Why would you sell your awesome 3700+ steppping for a chance to get a lower quality 4000+ stepping (my old 4000+ topped out at 2.7). The only logical choice here is the Opteron 165, dual core for the future and great overclocking potential. Please, dont get another single core CPU. You practically have the best single core AMD cpu out there!

As for the board, DFI Ultra D as you have in your sig would be a good choice. Tuniq tower / big typoon...for cooling.

Well it looks like (from sig) you are getting a dfi Ultra D, that is probably one of the top s939 overclocking boards. As for RAM, well, whatever.
