PSU for a 7850

Thread Starter
I'm looking for a relatively cheap 600w I think psu for use with a i5 (will overclock) a 7850, a hdd and a Ssd.

I can't remember exactly what i was looking at, but there was a Antec 620W HCG for £70. There was also a modular Be Quiet, but i don't know how reliable they are, and how good they are for rma's....

U do not need that much power. A 7850 only takes up about 100w depending on the overclock. Also please link which stores you will be buying from and your budget.

A *quality* 450w unit is enough for most gaming rigs w/ a single card even w/ a high-end card.
It would also be very helpful to post your FULL system specs (you can add this to your sig through rigbuilder), that way it's easier for all to see the big picture smile.gif

Additionally, there are a few great stickies we have in the PSU section that will be of help such as the Recommended List, and Phaedrus' PSU Calc.

i5 3750K (will overclocked)
Gigabyte Ds3H motherboard
Crucial 8gb ram
Sea gate barracuda 1tb
SanDisk 60GB ssd
And then a 7850 or maybe a 7870
In a Zalman Z11 case.

Because I found a way to contact amazon directly for rma's outside the 30 day period, I'm no longer restricted to just Scan or Ebuyer.

Corsair CX 430 will work fine for that rig, even with a 7870. thumb.gif

A Seasonic G 360 will make a perfect fit for that system.

Really? I would've thought 500W would be the bare minimum.

Would it not be a good idea to get something that allows a bit more headroom though?

Nope, that's just what AMD says.
You can run that rig easily on a Corsair CX430.
Just a hint:
Get the 430 V2.
Why?
Because it was a 6 pin power plug, so you don't have to daisy chain other cables to make it work.

What you have there is a <250W system at full load. A high quality, low output unit like the G 360 will serve you much better than higher output, value/entry level unit that costs about the same. wink.gif

if you wanna go something bigger i found this while looking for psu for another uk customer

pretty good deal i think

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/500w-fsp-aurum-gold-ppa5003103-90-eff-80-plus-gold-eps-12v-quiet-fan-atx-v23-psu

this is still an insane deal if you wanna go even bigger for a few quid more

http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/12756212/art/lepa/g650-mas-80plus-gold-pc-p.html

but as other's have said the g360 would be great for your system somewhere on here the 360 gold was shown to even be enough for a gtx 680

you can run 2 7850's with the 500 watt fsp or 2 gtx 680's with the lepa 650 if you wanted to
