Many thanks for all your responses.

I am pretty much set on the G860, as I can get it for £50 brand new from CCL.

Any recommendations as to which H61 mobo?

(I am happy to buy from anywhere,SCAN, eBuyer, Amazon, Fleabay).

No budget tbh, just cheap as possible. However happy to put a bit of money towards the case as I want it to look nice. BitFenix Prodigy a good call?

Personally I love ASUS so I'd prob go with something like this

According to ASUS website it supports the g860

though if you want to save a bit more this is not a bad board either

Prodigy is a very nice case, I have one and it is a decent size - not being massive not ridiculously tiny. The only thing to keep in mind is that a mix board could be costly compared to a mats, but that may not matter as you are working on an older platform. Other than that I don't see why not, the case is highly customizable with replacement side and front panels and many different configurations. If you have specific questions about the case, be sure to check out the bitfenix prodigy owner's club, there are a bunch of guys in there ready to help.

the prodigy is a great case (I've got 2) but its a m-ITX only case (unless you do some modding to it, which you can see around here if you look)

a cheaper option would be the Fractal 1000 which I've not used but heard good things about (its mATX which both those g61 boards I posted are)

I was assuming that this would be overclocked, but that may have been inappropriate. The g860 looks great at stock performance.

As for SSD size, I would get a 256MB at a minimum for holding the Sims 3. My girlfriend has all the expansions, plus some Sims 3 Store content; this takes up 27.5GB. As more expansions are released, this number tends to grow quickly. The Sims plus the OS and a few other games will quickly fill up a 120GB drive.

Edit: I did a little research and found this SSD. My girlfriend has one in her build and is very pleased with it. As for a PSU, this Seasonic is very nice, but if you later decide to upgrade, add a lot of fans, or add storage, then this one would be a bit better.

A possible case option from CCL would be the ACE Ecco 250:

http://www.cclonline.com/product/78559/ECCO-250-GEN-2/Cases/Ace-Ecco-250-Black-Interior-Soundproofed-Toolless-Micro-ATX-Case/CAS1409/

It's cheap (£32), is lightly soundproofed, looks quite nice (IMO), and is the same basic case as the Fractal 1000 but with a 120mm rear fan.

Notice they also have a 600w Corsair PSU for £48, which is pretty nice for the price and will easily handle anything you put in the PC in the future:

http://www.cclonline.com/product/96476/CP-9020048-UK/Power-Supplies/Corsair-CX600-Builder-Series-600-Watt-ATX-PS/2-Power-Supply-Unit/PSU0480/

Add pretty much any MATX 1155 motherboard, 2x4GB DDR3 kit and drives to suit, and you should have a pretty neat, pretty quiet and pretty fast PC smile.gif

I hear "girlfriend" and think NO OverClock...and I agree 100% on the SSD...though you might be able to stay closer to "cheap as possible" with a ~180GB

Thisbuild won't pull more than 300w

Get a quality PSU the 380 sea sonic will be fine
