ASUS RT-N66U Router Antennas

Thread Starter
ive just brought an ASUS RT-N66U router.

it is dual band and comes with 3 antennas, what I want to know is what output are they and would it be worth buying a set of higher output ones???

ive tried the asus website but they don't list the db of the antennas in the spec.

You have one of the better routers out there when it comes to signal strength, so I doubt you will need it unless you live in a big house or so.
My friend has one, at it had miles better strength than his last D-Link router.

When it comes to what db the antennas are, I sadly don't know. But I would try it stock before rushing for new ones!

Spend at least a month using the router before you decide you need better antennas.

Thanks for the advice.

The stock antennas are 5db but I think they are more than adequate as I can get full 5ghz signal in every corner of my house and at the end of my garden so I don't think ill be swapping them out.

Once tomato was installed I was able to do everything I brought it for.

If you have custom firmware, you can play with the power output, potentially removing the need for better antennas.
