[Various] GTX TITAN Previews - Page 106

Vapour chamber, aluminum, the craftmanship of Titan drags the price up, which is one of the reasons why it cost more than GTX 680 (which also have less than stellar cooling)

No offense but seriously? Amd was the first team To use a vapor chamber since 2008. And because the shell of the cooler doesn't have aluminum you are going to hate? This comment seriously makes no sense. What did the 680 reference coolers look like? O wait that's right, EXACTLY THE SAME. Not only that, the hiss is from the fan moving at probably 1/3 the rate faster than the titans.

We all know the 7970 runs hotter than the titan right?

So you won't compare the 680 which costs more than a 7970, performs less than the 7970, and uses the same crappy reference cooler. But you will compare the 7970, which is $600 less than a titan.

Why don't you compare the 7990? That has an aluminum shroud, that runs much quieter than a 7970 and that costs the same as a titan.

Now if you would act like a normal person and said "man that titan cooler is awesome, as it should be for the $1000 it costs, and is really quite." than I and many other would respect what you have to say. But you sound like a 12yo fan boy with the common sense of the US congress.

Can we please get these nitwits out of here.

Yes probably.

From what I hear from the video concerning who makes the most noise its:

7990 > 7970 > 680 > Titan > 690

Did you go to his thread where he did compare all the cards you just mentioned?

Again, there is not a single 7970 Ghz Ed. and very few standard 7970's available today that use the stock AMD cooler. Almost all cards use aftermarket solutions that cool better and more quietly.

The comparison is irrelevant.

at USD 1000 price the cost of industrial design of the cooler is a small drop in the ocean. At USD 500 on a GTX 680 Nvidia would find it difficult , even impossible , to put out a similar cooler if they want good margins.

You want to make a video or provide a source of how loud a non reference 7970 is then?

7970(non GHz) as comparison

Yea, my 7970 is pretty loud with the reference cooler.

Reference coolers like that on the 7970 are loud.

According to PC Perspective when you enable it the clocks drop below factory clocks, down into the 7xxMhz range.

But they can ask 600 for a card and it will still sell.

If Nvidia would drop enormously in sales THEN the card would drop below 500. Competition only is valid if the competition is eating from your marketshare. And thus far AMD is not.

It must be horrible to be AMD. Make such great cards in the HD7000 series and still get beaten by Nvidia in sales even though you are lower priced. What more can they do?

Did you ever think that maybe it has to do with Amd's reputation for horrible driver support that makes them sell far less gpu's then Nvidia. Until they start taking it more seriously that trend will continue. I will easily admit that they have a great performance/value ratio over Nvidia and have almost pulled the trigger on their gpu's several times. But ultimately talked myself out of it everytime. It might be unfair but as of right now there is a premium to pay to have a reliable error free gaming experience. And that's with Nvidia.
