If it is true, then you will have folks like Amazon, Newegg, NCIX, etc etc doing it as well.

Here is the problem with pre-orders.....

If the vendor doesn't get enough to fill pre-orders, then your money is tied up with them and you might miss the opportunity to snag one from another vendor.

The GTX 680 is loud. So was the GTX 580. The 480 sounded and felt like a hairdryer.

You're comparing the coolers on $1000 stock video cards with aluminum shrouds that add weight to the card against stock coolers on cards that cost less than half as much. It's an apples vs. oranges comparison.

Also, the 7990 is not a reference card, and it uses a hellish amount of power. I'm amazed they were even able to fit a cooler to that sucker.

GTX 680 reference is nowhere near 7970 reference model. Not even close.

"7990 isn`t a reference card"
And you complain about me posting videos of reference. Make up your mind dude.

GTX 690 perform similar and draw only around 40W more but its like two different worlds regarding noise.

And I`m comparing $1000 cards against $500 cards because A) They are all top GPUs and B) There is a reason why it cost more

I just want to see what overclocked performance looks like versus factory performance. I'm also very curious what true factory performance looks like.

876 MHz is quoted as the boost clock, and there have been some slides from nVidia showing performance presumably at stock speeds. People have been interpreting this as, these graphs were ran at 876 MHz, and then we see people claiming to push 1100+ MHz and we say, WOW, these things will overclock 30%+ and they may be as fast a 690!

What we are forgetting is that like the 680's, many of these cards probably boost well beyond their quoted 876 boost clock from the factory. These benches may have been ran on a card that hits 1030 MHz on factory boost, and maybe the actual overclock is only 100 MHz or so meaning that we should really only expect 10-15% over what is shown by nVidia's graphs.

Tomorrow just needs to get here. I also hope most review sites actually quote the clock their cards are actually running at in game rather than saying "it was ran at the default 876 MHz boost." I think when the 680's were released no one really understood that they boosted beyond "boost clock" and that quoting 1058 MHz was not the true MHz the cards were being ran at.

Good point. I am going off the assumption that these will be hard to come by at launch due to demand? Perhaps I am wrong?

Many bought them when that was all that was available.

Fair enough, but no ones buying them any longer. And there definitely wasn't any 690's or Titans when that was all that was available.

You lost me on this one. Explain how a 3rd party cooler on a mass-produced card can be compared to a custom designed card/SKU with a custom cooler. The 7990 is just two 7970's put into one monolithic card while the GTX 690 was designed from the ground up to be power efficient and exotic.

The 7990 wasn't even designed by AMD. It has no place in this comparison for coolers since there is no base line for production models.

It was stated by Anand, that this will be a full product run so there should be no issue with getting cards at release.

Despite the enthusiasm here, this is still a $1000 card. I personally plan to grab one as I expect a number of members here will. Remains to be seen how well it will sell out in the wild.
