Although tomorrow we may find that an oced Titan might be a reasonable choice vs. a 690 in a single card setup.

Looks like we'll see the 690 being beaten by oc'd Titans, and 690's don't have much OC'ing headroom generally. Plus, one GPU is better than two.

I was looking at the corsair ax1200i which is red and black, but that is more than I want to spend on it. Of the ocz is a decent psu that I will go with that. I have been researching it for the last hour.

Also it seems the Titan will probably be able to OC past a 690, that's why I plan to get a Titan. And then down the line if I want I could get a second for SLI, which is much better scaling than a second 690.
Great, so it's people like you who will be driving down the prices of 690 in the secondary resale market......
For me this is the trade that makes sense
1 690 replaced with 2 Titans
Quad 690 replaced with , ahm.. Cough..tri Titan biggrin.gif

If I couldn't get two titans I was going to do an sli 680 build. For the main components of the build it will be a 3770k (which I plan on overclocking), NZXT switch 810, Asus maximus formula V, and a noctua d14 air cooler. I was also looking at the OCZ fatility 1000W modular power supply to play it safe. Everything in the build is red except for the gtx titan of course, but I can live with that.

Its always a good idea to go with a bigger power supply. Gives you room to play for future upgrade's. You may wan't to go tri-sli down the road.

Any thoughts on the ocz fataility 1000W? or does anybody else have any thoughts on this psu.

Not going to happen, 700 series is going to be GK114, we might see a 15% increase over what we have now on a good day. Also due to the size, as it is the same size as GK104, I suspect it will be voltage locked as well. Nvidia stated the reason for the voltage lock on the 600 series was the size of the package, and excessive voltage on such a small package caused migration and damaged it. I would also expect GK114 to maintain the 256-bit interface, as again, it is essentially the GK104, just freshened up a bit.

I wouldn't take anything under $850 for it, at $850 that is a crazy good deal. I imagine people wanting Titan level performance, but not for $1000 would be interested in an $850 690.

I have used OCZ in a couple of builds, they both lasted and served well. Their overall construction back then, a couple of years ago, wasn't the best. I can't really comment too much on the newer ones, but the older ones were fine.

I seriously doubt this will happen on air. Maybe a watercooled Titan with a heavy overclock but then you are looking at another 100-150 on top of the 1000 just to meet the 690's speed. The 690 will still be the best single card at a grand. Nvidia won't butcher there 690 sales. The sweet spot is that Titan in sli will come very close if not match 690sli due to its bad scaling and provide 6gb of vram. For 2k thats a good value considering you will only have 2 cards and could easily add a third or fourth. Where you are already maxed out with 690sli or 7970 quad.

Can’t comment on the OCZ but I like the AX1200, the “i” one didn’t seem worth the price, but mine was $265 so not a bad price for it.
