1200w PSU for Titans in a 3-way SLI configuration (with rampage 4 Extreme and 3960X @ 4.4ghz), what do you guys think, enough or too little ?
Wouldn't want to be limited with the GPU boost 2.0 solely because my PSU cannot keep up...

I hear you there but there is still a downfall. To actually use that kind of gpu power you would almost need 2560 eyefinity to take advantage of it. Then the 2gb of the 690 and even the 3 gb of the 7970 quad would become an issue. 3gb would easily be passed with 3 screens in ultra settings being 2560x1600/1440p. The only thing that would match it would be Sapphire 6gb 7970's in quad-fire. They are 600 a pop which would put you at 2400. Making Titan 400 dollars less, take up half the pci lanes, run cooler and use less power. Then the ability to add a third or fourth Titan down the road. We will see what Titan sli will do tomorrow to confirm.

We will see when the reviews are here. Here is the power draw when gaming according to a semi review from Germany (they have to wait til tomorrow to release the full review). This is Assassin Creed, other games could draw more

So 900-1000W for 3 Titans when gaming

The 3960X isn't required, even a 3770K would be enough CPU power. If I were to do it 3 way, I would go with the 3930K, with the RIVE.

that's fine, you should have no problems with a 1200-watter..
but as just stated, roll with a 3770K or maybe 3930K instead.

If it's a good psu, that's definitely enough. They are only rated at 250w TDP.

I just found a thread on here that has templates to make your own corsair sticker. There is a cool gray/black and red one. I will go with the ax1200 and put a red sticker on it. I know $2000 on gpu's is crazy, but I couldnt justify spending the extra $80 on the 1200i when I wont use its features. I didn't plan on doing a color themed build then i realized 90% of the parts were red and black. I am also ordering a couple fans to get rid of the ugly noctua fans.

Is that overclocked? I thought the card had a 250 TDP with a 300 W max.
That chart is for the whole configuration I think.

Thanks for your input guys. However, I already have the RIVE and 3960X (have had it for a full year already tongue.gif)

Same was true for the 400 series NV cards though. They came out late, overhyped and performing under expectations. They were still the best performers and after a few driver updates the performance gap was actually quite big, big enough that the 470 clearly beat a 5870. They were still laughed at and thought of as bad cards because of the initial reviews.

That's OCN (And the modern computer hardware scene in general) for you, people still think an FX-8350 is slower than an i5 3570k when it's generally either right behind the Intel or matching/beating/getting close to the i7 outside of gaming scenarios.
