Will the GTX Titan max out Crysis 3 and get at least 60fps at 1920x1080? I know my 670 isn't even close.

Tell me about it. I almost had a hear attack when I got to work and after a while finally got some free time to check this thread. I had so many unread posts I almost had a heart attack because I thought they'd came out and I missed the launch.

It really is wishful thinking redface.gif

If they crippled it's compute features and focused entirely on gaming then I can see it being reasonably close to a Titan, but Nvidia would be stupid to do that since AMD has nothing on the horizon and all they need is a 15-20% performance boost over the 680 and they'd be fine.

There's no point in pricing it at $500 and making it perform like a Titan since it would lower hype for Maxwell and cut sales of Titan and the GTX 680.

I was just joking, but yes I really do think your original expectations are quite high. I think Nvidia is going the Intel route, and will continue to lock down the normal series, and then have the Titan series (like Intel's K-series) with a bit more freedom, and a lot more performance.

So...I really doubt the 780 will be unlocked, and really doubt performance will be anywhere near Titan. Nvidia is charging $1000 for this thing, there's no way they're going to release a $500 780 that comes close to it. Nvidia wouldn't do that to their customers.

**And before anyone posts a half-witted response like "Oh look, he's been brainwashed. Blindly following Nvidia, thinking they actually care about him/customers...". No, I don't literally mean they care about us. What I mean is I don't think Nvidia would do that to their super-enthusiast crowd. Putting off those that spend the most money for your products isn't the best practice in the business world. I doubt Nvidia would come close to the performance of Titan with the 780 because if Nvidia wants their customers to buy the successor to Titan, they'll make sure they show their customers it's going to be worth-while and not get cannibalized by a much cheaper x80 in a few months.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed....coolsmiley02.gif

Again, GK114 will maintain the 256-bit bus, as GK114 is essentially a GK104. Sorry about being the one to deliver the bad news.

Pulled this off a Japanese site while snooping for some SKUs

Google translation:
"Suggested retail price in the U.S. is $ 999. In the 25th 2, EVGA and ASUS, the release date in North America outside of the United States can be released Colorful, Galaxy, Gigabyte, INNO 3D, MSI, Palit, Zotac has and the like has been decided."

Keep in mind its a grab-bag translation but it's the first time I've seen other brands referenced to releasing the Titan.
