Edit: I think i better go with 7970 Ghz CF as response for this Nvidia Insult. i feel insulted. wink.gif

Edit2: I still hope the guy of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkjBNnKr6z4 is wrong, and TItan perfomance very very close to GTX 690, im a nvidia fan i still trusth on them.

What about the ones that go SLI Titan or 3-way SLI TITAN? Would they laugh at others? Don't think so. People on this forum need to get it straight, I'm sick and tired of others bashing others with lines such as "Well it seems that you have more money than brains" or "But I can get 2x whatever card for the same price as one of yours and beat you" Who cares, it's their money, they get to spend it however which way they want, you don't have to bicker at them.

Now I sadly remember why I did not visit OCN much often when compared to other forums.

Probably, but oh well...

It does not make you an ass. People that can afford it buy flagship items, but I do envy the ones that put them to good use and do not "brag" about it. Sort of like how there are communities such as M5board who owns expensive vehicles but yet have civil discussions about it, and do not come off as cocky or arrogant regardless of what they do for a living.

They took a mid-ranged GK104 chip and inflated the price to $500 for what should have been $299. They also locked voltages but despite these two things everyone and their god damn grandmother went out and bought one.

With the refresh of Kepler, they saw how desperate we were for "the real deal", so they released a $500 dollar flagship and are charging us a cool grand because they noticed how everyone was willing to sell off a kidney to buy this crap.

And they said, "look guys, remember how we screwed you guys over last time and locked voltages? well now it's back!! lookie here! here you go guys!". And like a bunch of kittens being toyed with, they gave us our yarn voltages "back" and we gladly accepted this and went about our way like it was nothing.

I am so ashamed off being an enthusiast. The sheer desperation you guys display is shocking. You guys would literally sell of your kidneys if a card was fast enough and marketed right.

I am sooo @$%$@%@ pissed. This card should be $499 MAX. And screw the extra charge for RAM, how much can an extra 3 GB cost? You can buy 12GB of RAM for $50.

If you're ashamed of being an enthusiast then you aren't one. Seriously, tell me, if you were a business man, and had to run an operation the size of Nvidia reporting back to investors, would you not release your mid-range chip in the high-end market of Gaming GPU's for a better bottom line TO THE INVESTORS, so you can have more capital to work with on Maxwell? The main reason they did this was lack of competition, I'm sure enough if Nvidia's mid-range GK104 was not good enough to complete against 7970, they would have delayed the release, or lowered the pricing.

Read Nvidia's report on TSMC. Also, DDR3 =! GDDR5. These are high end 6ghz samsung IC's, they are not cheap to produce, and they are much less common than your typical DRAM IC's.

And again your comment is irrelevant and has nothing to do with the price of the Titan being way out of line with its performance and setting a dangerous precedent that it's okay to charge $1000 for a consumer GPU. The 690 was worth the $1000; this is not.
$800 is more in line with its performance relative to the current generation and has been done before (8800 Ultra).

No offense, but many of us who aren't rich see "luxury items" as being some of the stupidest things one could throw their money away on when they offer no tangible advantage over a non-luxury item.

The 690 is worth its price.

I don't agree with peoples statement of Titan being poorly binned GK110. Infact I think they are binned to a higher standard than Teslas. Leakage can be greater than Teslas, however they must be able to hit a higher Clock and have boost logic embedded in them. Companies bin IC's and CHIPS for various reasons, Titan contains a specifically binned GK110 for it's shear purpose of being a very high end gamers card, or low level compute card ( hence the option that drops clock speeds )

I appreciate your comment, companies create luxury items because there is a market for them. If you think it's stupid, then great. Those that don't will simply disregard your statement. I personally still think Titan is worth the money even at it's current MSRP, if it was lower, then I would be happier as well. But I think at this price range, demand is already high enough, and it will allow Nvidia to continue binning these chips for the GEFORCE line.

It would suck if the 780 performed similar to a Titan @ $500, so I am going to wait and then make up my mind then.

780 will not compete with Titan, but that horse has been beaten.

My strategy? At 1440P I can have several full page windows side by side, I will have my usual sources up and be spamming F5 until I can snag one the moment they go live.

You could share it with some of us who want this card just as bad as you. For the better of the community of course!

I don't even think Maxwell's 880 will touch a single Titan in higher resolutions. With Nvidia's greenlight program I see the upcoming generations being locked down. The Titan is far different and with the the capabilities with a good overclock to perform close to 680's in Sli and have 6gb of ram. I see maybe a 15% jump from the 780 to 680 and probably another 30% jump from the 780 to Maxwell. That would give the 880 a 45% increase over the 680 which is pretty significant. The days of huge performance jumps are all but over. Die's are getting smaller with power use becoming a priority. GK110 is huge compared to what Maxwell will be. There will be a replacement for Titan within the next year or so but it won't be a 500 dollar 780/880. I have no doubt that a pair of Titans will hold me off on a single 2560x1440p display for at least the next two generations. In fact my entire rig will hold me off for the next two years with a pair of Titans. The next time I'll upgrade will be an entire overhaul.

You sir are my hero. I am with you 100 percent on EVERY response of yours. I am excited to see what 3 of these Titans can do for my 7680x1440 setup and will be anxious as well to see other people post their experiences. Titan is not marketed for people who want the "best card for the money". It's marketed to enthusiasts who want the fastest BEST card out there and are willing to pay for that.
