but its 999.....thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

27% more performance for more than twice the cost of HD 7970...

Such a huge letdown frown.gif

This also shows AMD was right about Titan in their conference call

On a positive note look at that frame times on the Titan vs 690 @ 5760x1080. I can feel the smoothness already!

Isn't @ 45% performance above the 680 what we were expecting? Again the OCability of the Titan is going to weigh heavily on purchases.

Yeah, more reviews need to record frame deviation, and more people need to take it into consideration. It's one of the reasons why single GPU feels so much "smoother" than SLI/CF. Surprised the 7970 is that high... A 690 with 4.35ms at 80FPS will probably feel less smooth than a Titan with 2.21ms at 60FPS. It's one of the reasons I got rid of my old SLI... I felt it was telling me the wrong FPS. redface.gif

Thanks but I disagree with his statement
Quote:
'We have the world's fastest GPU now with the [Radeon HD 7970] GHz Edition, and as Roy mentioned the GK110 is coming but is something Nvidia is leveraging from a completely different space. It's a Tesla product, it's a workstation product, it really was never intended for the consumer market, and I think they're kinda shoe-horning that product into their GeForce stack,' added McPhee. 'So, we took them by surprise by having the world's fastest GPU and you see all these kinds of reactions from them right now, but we're very confident that the 7970 GHz Edition is the best GPU for enthusiast gamers out there.

1x Titan will beat 1x 7970s and 3x Titans will definitely destroy 3x 7970s. It will also consume less power and produce less heat/noise based on the early previews. Is it worth $3000 instead of $1500? Probably not to most, but price/performance doesn't matter when you are claiming something is the "best". It boils down to, Titan is the best single GPU card on the market.

His logic is like saying, a $50,000 car is the best car on the market... just because most people can't justify spending $500K+ on a car. tongue.gif

for more than twice the price of a year old product.

But i'm bored of having this argument, i'll wait for reviews and hope it's better than a pathetic 30% improvement for all that money.

ps. you cannot compare the GPU industry with the Auto industry. The difference between the two is too significant.

Also this is showing 90% performance of a 690 @ 5760x1080. Hoping that is not OD'd, that an OC Titan should take over the 690 in performance.

I admit the 7970 does take some of the Titan's shine away. But to be fair we are not comparing the stock 7970, we are looking at the OC Ghz edition. But I will give it to AMD they have an excellent price/performance.

2 titans is amazing, but 2x 680s or a 690 offering that much more performance at the same price? I hope it isn't true.

That's what I've been saying this whole thread.

1 GTX Titan is pointless but once you have two or three it becomes a powerhouse. Nvidia are smart and seem to have placed the performance of this thing right where it needs to be for enthusiasts to need to run them in SLI whilst giving us that extra power we needed. 1x GPU for each screen wasn't enough with the GTX 680. Now it will be.

Have no idea why people are upset with the gains it does have plus it's overclocking ability over the GTX 680. It has awesome performance (from the leaks) compared to a GTX 680 and is what surround users needed. Not to mention previews all told you it isn't quicker than a GTX 690, nor does it need to be to be successful.

If the 10% less performance than a GTX 690 in surround is true with only 3ms frame deviation that's awesome. That's worth the price to me.

Only thing that concerns me was the BF3 benchmark and the GTX Titan scaling vs the ARESII. Scaling will be everything with this card.
