Is it wrong that I kind of like the high price ensures that dual Titan setups like I intend to build will be a lot more rare than high end setups are right now? You get exclusivity with the high price as well...

That's why they wont to talk about perfomance yet, when that's the most important.

The reviews that went up today are looking at 85% of a 690 at stock settings.....that is before the close to 40% OC that Guru and Toms was able to hit.

Much better things to invest into if you are into collecting.
No need to encourage Nvidia to raise prices.

Yeah $1200 PC will not have a $1000 GPU. It can have a $500 GPU instead. I did not say about other parts. I said GPUs.

$500 has been the price since 6800 Ultra days. $100 more or less.

If you want to feel special go buy yourself a 1 million dollar car and you will have exclusivity.

you really need to get off this micro-stuttering because as it's been stated before, with enough CPU strength there is no such thing to minimal.
a matching pair of GPU's or at least same specs, clean driver install and good CPU with overclock.
equals no such thing as micro-stuttering or very minimal, I'm speaking for SLi set-ups, not sure about 3 and 4-way..

so upgrade hardware and see for yourself.

8800 Ultra was $850 at launch if my memory serves me, and really wasn't that much better than a $500 8800GTX. There have been exceptions to the $500 rule, and I think this card is a much better value than the 8800 Ultra was. tongue.gif

On average, I don't think GPU prices have changed much at all.

Upgrading your CPU won't fix microsuttering... It *may* allow you to get closer to 60+ FPS which will make microstuttering less noticeable though.

Microstuttering is caused by how the cards handle the frames in SLI/CF, it has nothing to do with the CPU. If you were experiencing stuttering, then upgraded CPU and it removed it, then it wasn't microstuttering you were experiencing.

I'm kind of interested in seeing the Titan go up against the 7970 6gb Toxic, max oc vs max oc.

So is every Nvidia big die flagship GPU (550 sq mm) going to cost USD 1000 in Geforce version hereafterwards. then its not good. after having seen GTX 280 fall from USD 650 to USD 500 because of HD 4870 and GTX 480 launch at USD 500 because of good competition from HD 5870 and GTX 580 provide outstanding value even for a high end card at USD 500 this is not a good trend. AMD has to take the blame as they have not got a refresh HD 8970 product which comes close to competing with Titan. Even if AMD had a HD 8970 which performed 85 - 90% of Titan at USD 500 Nvidia would have better pricing on Titan. Whatver AMD's strategy is it definitely is not helping the consumers. mad.gif

no contest, the Titan FTW over the Toxic 7970 6GB.
but the price difference alone makes it another category..

Technology should be much cheaper to produce than it was 10+ years ago, yet the cost of Titan does not reflect that.

Inflation doesn't explain why it's so expensive either.

Single GPUs at $1000 a piece is very ridiculous.

They're robbing the way gas companies rob us.

If gas costs 50 cents a liter, they raise to 75 for a few months.

Then they reduce to 65 cents and everyone's so happy it's "gone down in price".

6 months later they increase it to 85 cents, then down to 75 after a month and everyone's happy again.

And the cycle continues....

The GTX 680 was a mid-range chip that they sold us for $500. Shame on them. Now they're releasing what should have been a $500 flagship for $1000. Ridiculous.
