GTX 780 will 20%ish faster than 680 like previously refresh. Titan will be faster than 780 for sure. With gaming. No doubt about that. If people have the money for Titan, let them buy it. The GPGPU performance with Titan is a BONUS.

Tomshardware just lost my respect. He is biased and try to push his views on people. He should just post raw data with very little subjective analysis. All reviewers should try to stay neutral.

Sure 2 7970's is more performance. Wait till it goes up against 2 Titans though...

No one buys this thing for the price/performance Tom's. Great job at missing the entire point of an uber-enthusiast card doh.gif

I wouldn't be so sure, at 1600p I could see Titan beating or equaling 2x 7970s.. with much less heat and power consumption. At 1080p, 7970s will most likely beat a Titan. If these things are reaching nearly 1.2GHz cores (without voltage control), just imagine when people get them under water. I'm really excited to see the results.

There were people in the other thread yesterday claiming it would be equal performance at the same price. That's mainly who my comment was directed at. thumb.gif

I won't touch SLI/CF. Even if the 690 is better price/performance, I will get Titan. I do not see how people deal with microstuttering, I've messed with a 690 and it was an awful experience, i've also had my fair share of SLI/CF rigs that were complete headaches.

To each his own, I won't tell you how to spend your money if you don't tell me how to spend mine. tongue.gif I feel like some people are more sensitive to microstuttering than others.

I agree completely, those paragraphs didn't sit well with me. Not everyone likes SLI/CF.

If that's the case then I will wait it out. The gtx780 may launch soon after titan and be nearly as fast for half the price, or it could even be a full blown GK110 and faster. Wait and see for sure.

I wonder if people also go around chasing down the people that bought a 3960X and yell at 'em about wasting their own money

The 780 will almost certainly be GK114 and will be considerably slower then titan.

People like myself arent going to buy titan simply because we want gaming performance. Were buying it for HWBot records thumb.gif

It actually is a nice card. It comes at a pricepoint where there is 0 competition in that market. Nvidia will make a total killing.

For the gamer, you have other options that are right around the corner. That will be better for gaming.

If you fold + game, you can't beat the card. It's genuinely a nice card.

If you just game and have a mid-tower, this card isn't for you, you can do better by exercising some patience.

I have plenty of nice things to say about this card but, they aren't geared at gaming because for $1000, you can actually do better with SLI.

I have quad 680's on my current rig, I do agree there are major SLI issues on the X79 platform, same is true of Crossfire but, once again, I strongly urge those of you who have the cash, to wait just a bit longer and a better option for GAMING, will be readily available.

I am building my first ever rig so it would be nice to know when the 700 series is coming out. If we know they would be out in the next 90 days I would buy a couple of 680's and then do the step up program from EVGA. For step up do you have to buy directly from EVGA, or can you still do it with Amazon/Newegg purchases.

Also Toms Hardware said the Titan will be available for purchase on the 25th.

$/Performance and pure performance are NOT the same thing. I will eat my hat if the GTX 780 beats the Titan in games. To accomplish that they would need to go bigger than 520mm2 or drastically increase the efficiency... the latter being something I am not expecting until 20mn and Maxwell.

Some of us (especially those of us with large resolutions or 120Hz) are just looking for the best performance regardless of price. I would not be surprised if Titan SLI beat 690 Quad SLI if Titan was running near 1200MHz (see Guru3d preview) all while not causing "major SLI issues on the X79 platform".
