We are all now dumber from reading your post. At no point did your statement make any sense or justified existing other than to spew uneducated crap from your brain.

Some here will use this card as a "status symbol", brag that they have it...Then complain when the 780 comes out because it's almost equal performance for half the price. - Then the cycle will repeat and repeat and repeat.

I will use this card for both folding and driving my 3 way 1440p setup.
As soon as I have my new platform I will switch to cpu folding only as it would be a waste to have this running while the rest pumps out a million ppd

I have a hard time believing it doesn't trade blows with the 690 or is within 10% of it, considering they are the same price. There's some other leaked charts showing it smack in the middle between the 680 and 690, which seems far too low for a $999 MSRP and leaves almost no room for the 780. Guess we'll have to wait and see...

I'm with you on that - especially for 1600p & higher resolutions. One thing to keep in mind is that Tom's Hardware says that "in MOST cases" a GTX690 wins. The cards can't be that far apart in performance if the Titan wins some of the battles. IMO, anything less than 85% of a GTX690 (both at default clock) will be disappointing. Like you said, that leaves very little room for the GTX780. Frankly, if for some odd reason performance was midway between a GTX680 & GTX690, then probably no Titan for me. GTX780 would be too close in performance in that instance.

Along with base clock vs. base clock and OC vs. OC Titan vs. GTX690 comparisons, I'm curious to know performance with equal clocks. Maybe not as practical, but how much does the extra VRAM & memory bus width help vs. having fewer cores.

This card, wasn't meant for the commercial buyer.

The ultimate reality of this "offering" is that it wasn't meant for you and me, thus the price-point.

This card was aimed at researchers and actually follows a line of currently available Tesla products that are really only available to the private sector.

Titan was a way that Nvidia could publicly release this product and give it at a price point to those that would have need of it.

It just so happens that, it performs, well but, once again, this wasn't their entire focus.

This card wasn't meant to be a gaming rig, primary/secondary card -- They just ultimately decided since it performed so well, they could make a few more bucks...And they are.

Largely, you won't see this card in people's rigs because, contrary to popular belief, the 7 series samples went out in Q4 so...We're not jumping all of Titan for a reason...But, some will...You will however, see this card in mass in universities, doctors offices, businesses...In fact, to my knowledge, just based on pre-orders and other contracts, Alpha/Beta are sold out, and they're now on Gamma/Delta.

So while some people here, will buy this card to game on, they're doing so blindly where as those whom need this card, will buy it at it's price-point because the next cheapest card AIMED at their market is about $2500-$3000.

1) Please give a source for stating that the GTX700 series samples went out in Q4? I've done searches, but haven't seen anything definitive on the GTX700 series release. Also, if possible, I would appreciate any information as to whether the GTX780/770 will have the same GPU computing restrictions as the GTX680 or have an "enable" option as per Titan.

2) Assuming samples were out in Q4, the when would you expect release of the GTX780?

3) Assuming that the GTX780 computing power is restricted per 680GTX (so maybe equal to GTX580?), what alternatives to a Titan would you suggest for me (monitor 2560x1600 -> see sig for rest) if GPU computing is equally important as gaming and majority (maybe all) of GPU compute software doesn't work/work well with Radeon cards.

Thanks

So much hate in this forum... can't wait to see people posting pics of their new Titan and all the hate follow after. Followed by people calling people stupid and ignorant for making their own purchases with their own money.

Goes both ways man, people buying it also seem to be acting high and mighty with a bit of self justification.

Honestly, everyone is feeding into this. This happens every new release.

Tom's Hardware's "conclusion" really has me worried:
Quote:
As you’ll soon see, the combination generally falls between a GeForce GTX 690 and Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition in our benchmarks. That means:

1) Pay the same $1,000 for a GeForce GTX 690 if you only want one dual-slot card and your case accommodates the long board. It remains the fastest graphics solution we’ve ever tested, so there's no real reason not to favor it over Titan.
2) The Titan isn’t worth $600 more than a Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition. Two of AMD’s cards are going to be faster and cost less. Of course, they’re also distractingly loud when you hit them with a demanding load. Make sure you have room for two dual-slot cards with one vacant space between them. Typically, I frown on such inelegance, but more speed for $200 less could be worth the trade-off in a roomy case.
3) Buy a GeForce GTX Titan when you want the fastest gaming experience possible from a mini-ITX machine like Falcon Northwest’s Tiki or iBuyPower’s Revolt. A 690 isn’t practical due to its length, power requirements, and axial-flow fan.
4) Buy a GeForce GTX Titan if you have a trio of 1920x1080/2560x1440/2560x1600 screens and fully intend to use two or three cards in SLI. In the most demanding titles, two GK110s scale much more linearly than four GK104s (dual GeForce GTX 690s). Three Titan cards are just Ludicrous Gibs!
