Searching for a laptop, $650 budget

Thread Starter
What is your maximum budget?
$654 shipped and not a dime more.

What country are you in?
United States

What will be the uses of this laptop?
Internet surfing, LOTS of watching DVD's, VERY light Photoshop use. Infrequently.

Do you have brand loyalty or care which brands we select for you?
Anything reliable. That means no to Acer or Compaq or something like that. I DO like Lenovos...

What screen size do you require?
14"-14.9". I'll consider a 13.3" but hoping not to have to do so

What screen resolution do you require?
Anything equal to or better than 1366x768. Mega bonus points for 1600x900 or 1080

Are you looking to buy NEW or would refurbished/recertified/used be okay?
New preferred, but if it's a reliable refurb place (like Newegg) then I'll consider it

How long should the battery last? (Under optimal conditions, no movies/games/heavy internet)
Doing MS word and some basic browsing, four hours would likely be sufficient

What games would you like to play with your laptop? And on what settings?
None. Maybe Zoo Tycoon every once in awhile. tongue.gif

What operating system do you need? (if any)
Windows 7 or 8. Win8 preferred

Is there a certain style of laptop you want? (aluminum, black, gaming, etc.)
Freaking Durable. Like....bulletproof as possible

How much hard drive space do you need?
Not much. Anything over 250GB is likely overkill. I have a Crucial M4 128GB that I MAY be putting in there

Do you need any special hardware? (blue ray, webcam, specialty ports, etc.)
USB 3.0, HDMI or VGA, and it MUST have a DVD drive and physical mouse buttons (a click-bar that serves as left and right is fine, but the buttons themselves must not be part of the touchpad. They must be seperate physical buttons

Is there anything else we need to know?
This thing will in all likelihood be abused. The client I'm buying for just killed their last machine and had an accidental plan on it. The company reimbursed us $654 so that's what we have to work with.

Thanks!
