First time SSD purchase.

I'm going to puchase my first SSD soon and narrowed it down to two choices based on cost / performance. Which of the two is better or is there a better choice for around £80?

1- Samsung 120GB 840 Series Basic http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120gb-samsung-840-basic-25-ssd-7mm-3-core-mdx-toggle-nand-read-530mb-s-write-130mb-s-256mb-cache-85k

2- Sandisk Extreme 120GB SSD http://www.scan.co.uk/products/120gb-sandisk-extreme-25-ssd-sata-iii-6gb-s-read-550mb-s-write-510mb-s-23000-iops-83000-iops-max

Most people will go for Samsung based on reliability alone. thumb.gif

I didn't know reliability was an issue. Is the Sandisk not reliable?

Its just not one of the big three that ever get recommended. When I was doing my research for my SSD everything I came to continued to recommend Crucial, Samsung, or Intel for their SSD's because they were reliable. Most of the newer SSD's are all about equal I would guess but I kind of live by the reputation of what those 3 companies were getting a year ago. I've never heard anything bad about sandisk SSD"s but I've never heard anything good either.

The sandisk has better writes, but the samsung is known for reliability. Good luck with your choice. Honestly I am happy I bought my 250 gig Samsung 840
