I just think you should get a GPU, any GPU, before you start RMAing parts.

You hit something here and I had to look at his mobo - you're most likely correct as I see the mobo does not have any onboard video!

When the OP said that he didn't have a GPU I was thinking along the lines that he didn't get a dedicated GPU as his upgrade, but that's not the scenario here.

OP - get a GPU that will help. biggrin.gif

Ye I checked the owners thread... NZXT decided to not include a speaker thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif
Try to borrow a GPU from a friend of yours if you can I guess... It should show something on the debug led if it is a GPU error tho

Yeah. Get a GPU and update us.

I have an old X58 Sabertooth. When it wouldn't post (first board was bad) there was an led for processor compatibility, then an led for memory compatibility, then an led for video compatibility. If one failed, the board wouldn't post, and would beep appropriately based on what wasn't compatible. The HP board was a different matter and a pile of crap.

I'll keep an eye on the thread. Let us know if a GPU sorts out this problem.

That motherboard will not post without a GPU, in fact the great majority of motherboards out there that don't have any onboard video will not post without a GPU this is why it has been acting the way it has.

This is the OP's mobo rear I/O:

Indeed it won't post... But it also won't simply turn off. It does a post error lol
Hopefully tomorrow everything will be sorted out.

I've had mobo's in the past (when testing to see if it had a pulse) that without a GPU will just shut off.

OP - When you acquire a GPU you'll see where you stand.

It could be more but until then..........................

Yeah at this point has got to be a bad PSU, missing GPU, or worst case scenario a dead mobo. mad.gif

One reason why I asked the OP to reseat the processor is that a badly seated processor could potentially make it shut down as like the OP witnessed.

Otherwise if after the GPU install it still shuts down it's either the PSU or mobo IMHO.

That Cougar PSU the OP has within the bad Newegg reviews have had people receiving them DOA or have helped fry other components.  I would never even consider such a PSU, besides we have a PSU recommended list thread here on OCN = no excuse to either cheap out or purchase inferior merchandise.

For the OP if he should need a PSU reference after the GPU install (hopefully not): http://www.overclock.net/t/183810/faq-recommended-power-supplies/0_100
