[GameGPU] Crysis 3 Final - GPU & CPU scaling - Page 18

I doubt the increase in IPC will make up for the core deficit there.

Why does this game run so poorly on modern cards when it doesn't look leagues better than Crysis 2? I hope they didn't make an underground, tessellated river like in Crysis 2 to make their game seem more demanding.

This game is weird.

Edit: Didn't see that CPU load charts were posted to.

Perhaps we are that the point of seriously diminishing returns until some part of the chain evolves?

Hopefully we see a big leap once the next-gen consoles get here.

Crysis 3 is not a big revolutionary leap, but you can tell it's finally utilizing most of the power of our current hardware. I think it's gonna take another hardware gen (or two) if we're to see a big leap in terms of things like textures, animations, and physics performance.

I agree with Foolsmasher as well, the next gen consoles should help

So the conclusion is that Crysis 3 loves cores meening AMD pull some very good numbers and actually provide a few more FPS then the Intel Quads but this extra FPS advantage is only due to clock speed advantage.

Great news if you don't overclock...but... we're the wrong forum for that.

Because of the clock speed advanatge, but as I already noted.... this is the wrong forum to argue about stock clocks.

And there's a few games where FX chips are very competitive with a single GPU, however they show there weakness when you start adding CF and SLI into the mix, would be interesting to see how the CPU's fair with an GPU to push.
Low res test simply isolate the CPU performance to give a better idea of performance between different CPUs. But you could do that better with synthetic tests. Gaming tests should be done using resolutions we actually game on.

Not necessarily. Need frame time data in order to properly asses this. The AMD chips might be crapping out big on a set of frames, giving more credence to per thread performance over # of cores.

The data is too inaccurate to say conclusively one way or the other.

All of sudden games are coming out whilst our newish tech cards cant handle the frame rates! Whats going on? And is it lazy coding or what?

Are these games being optimized enough, or is selliing ploy like far cry 3? Will your system handle the game? Who's kidding who here?

GPU utilization for SLI sucks with Crysis 3. First card was getting 88-92 percent usage, and second was like 25-35%. Game looks great tho!
I'm guessing once the drivers mature, this will get better.

You argue stock clock advantage but then say not to. lol

Also, care to explain why the FX6300 stock clock 3.5GHz and slightly beats the 2500K at 3.3GHz actual boost IIRC is 3.7GHz

Also, that's a myth that FX cant handle SLI/Crossfire. My GTX 660 sli is the equivalent to GTX 580 SLI and I handle them just fine. Also, there is a guy with a FX-8350 and quad 7970's in top unigin heaven benchmark scores. So lets post proof or let that myth die.
