3gb switch questions

Thread Starter
I have windows 7 32bit and 4gb of ram. I am unable to afford a 64bit os because I just bought my new pc in rig. Is it possible to run 2.5gb so I have 1.5gb for kernel? If it is possible in theory would it run ok if I left it on for daily use. I want to do this becasue a couple games run out of memory. Specifically The Witcher 2 and Crysis 3. I feel like this would be the perfect ratio for me because sometimes I run chrome in the background or have a few other things which hit around 1gb and I want to have a 512mb cushion to be safe for stability and speed for tabbing out of games.

I'm not sure how you plan to split your memory (since Win contolls the memory), but seeing as you are capped out on ram, the only thing I could possibly recommend would be to increase the size of your pagefile to 8GB (or even 12GB). Generally, Win7 is decent (not good, but decent) at managing memory and if you have a large enough pagefile, it will start moving things that are unused off the memory to the pagefile and allow things that are currently using the memory to stay on ram. This should help with your memory issues while gaming.

If you need help with making the change, here is a LINK on how to change it. Let us know if this helps.
