It looks too...stock

Yeah, I kinda think my computer looks to 'stock' as someone put it.
I want to do that UV pen mod, but I am wondering where i should put the cathodes. Im getting a new heatsink too. But, I kinda feel like I want to make my computer look more original. Oh, and i dont know what to do with those ugly silver pieces of metal that hold the cd/hard drive.

Here's the view from the window: http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/903/e3wb6.jpg

Here's the case: http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/5140/q1xs6.jpg

no... i didnt take this 2.5 years ago... my camera isnt set to the date

I'd say put the cathodes in the upper and lower corners of the case so that you minimize shadows. As to what to add...use your imagination.

Glowing colors look better than colored light, IMO.

Get some UV reactive fans and whatnot, and a UV cold cathode. Don't worry about green/red/whatever cathodes. Get some nice UV rounded cables, and a UV sata cable.

2 OP pls nerf

a 4" cathode under the cd, going left and right:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16800888039

a sata round reactive cable:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812107015

a pci slot cooler uv reactive:

ATA133 uv reactive round cable:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812104034

do those placements of cathodes sound alright? (i dont have anyroom on the top - theres a fan there)

wait...edit: i actually have room for a small one if i can mount it up there. should i put the 4" on top?

After I looked at the first pic, I thought, "Wow, that looks like the X-Infinity case." Which is the case I am currently using. Then I took a look at the second picture, and was amazed to find that indeed, that is my case. First, I'd like to say that this case is faaaaar from looking like a stock case. A simple thing I did was to unscrew the clear plastic panel on the door, and measure the back panel. Next, using those measurements, create a cool custom image and tape it onto the plastic that shows inside the door. I'll post some pictures when I can, after all, this is probably the most awesome case I've ever owned unmodded. I can give this chassis a lot of praise, but I also have some fair warnings:
The temperature sensor breaks easily, so try only positioning it once. All clear panels scratch and crack easily, so use caution when handling them, though they aren't uber-fragile. If you're motherboard is like mine, if you put a gigantic heatsink (I.E. the Thermaltake Bettle) on the CPU, the powersupply will hit it, and you cannot place it on while the motherboard tray is out. Always keep the side panels level when they are off the chassis, they will bend at one point or another, which makes getting them to stay on without bulging a difficult task and makes it difficult to put the thumb screws on as well. If your case came with the same fans as mine, the fans only lasted for about two years before they went out, so replace them with some higher quality ones if you can. The small extension-cables provided with the chassis for the power and reset switch will disconnect randomly, use some black electricians tape to keep them attached. The HDD and Power lighting can get somewhat annoying if it faces your bed at night, so you may want to consider adding a switch to all of the external lights. ... That's all I can really think of right now, but the case is actually a mess. I've debated about getting another X-infinity for about a year or so now, but I've finally come to the decision to get an X-discovery, which I'm sure will have the same types of problems, as they are pretty much identical internal and structure-wise.

Don't get me wrong, I've taken this PC from place to place, including plane flights, and heavily abused it, and still shocked that it's enact. I'll get some pictures I've taken of it on the web, and take some new ones in it's current state so you can get an idea of what to avoid.

As for the silver metal things, I just recycled them. It's not like you can re-attach them.

Also, I'm glad to finally join overclock.net!
