enabling xmp in visual bios

So I'm new to computers (Just finished my first build) and I noticed my 1866 Ram is running at 1333. I've looked around online, and I figured out I need ro enable xmp. How would I do this?

i am not fimilar with Intel board BIOS but look in your BIOS under something like memory and you should she something like XMP and choose a profile. see if you can do that and if it works great, if not then you might have to set the RAM multi to x18.66 and the timings as per whats written on the sticks.

running RAM at 1.65V is fine. what are your sticks rated at for voltage? was that with XMP?

1866 1.5v cl10, and yes it was. I'm not at home right now, but I fiddled with it manually earlier (
There's a slider to automatically overclock) and my computer bugged out, I had to change that red cable on my hard drive, it somehow fried (the cable)

hmmm, you fried the SATA cable, thast the cable from your mobo to your HDD. i am at a lose as to why that cable fried headscratch.gif

are you using some overclocking tool in windows or are you actually setting your RAM in BIOS? it is also possible you need more voltage to run your RAM @ 1866. i would probably fiddle more with manual settings and see how that goes and if not settle on the XMP profile.

I'm setting it in bios. And I've no idea either, but once I changed the cable, my computer started working again.
