You are the only person in this thread trying vigorously get TC to spend money on the 8350.
If he were building a new pc, I would easily recommend the 8350 (~200 budget) or 3770k (300 budget), but hes not. He already has a i7 920 at 4.0ghz stable.
There is no way buying a 8350 + a decent board is a worthy upgrade for the price that he is shelling out. That is the point everyone is trying to point out, no one (sane) is saying the 8350 is worse than the 920.
He has crossfire 7950 you really think hes not trying to play games like these?
If he was only trying to play games like shogun or starcraft I would side with you. but hes obviously not.
Also, games will now be coded on AMD 8 core CPU's so its a safe bet more games coming out this year and so on will be better suited on the 8350.

. Also like it has been said many times here the 920 has more OC potential then the 8350. The 920 maxes out at little over 50% OC while the 8350 tops out at about 33% OC. So when both are running at there full potential the 920 is closer to the 8350 then when at stock.
Further more when talking about CPU performance there are wild fluctuations based on platform. There has even been recorded instances where a 920 4.0GHz has out preformed a 3770k running at 5.0.GHz and there has been instances where a old q6600 @ 3.0Ghz comes out ahead of a 920 4.0GHz.
Thees odd ball results mean that you can never ever look just at one benchmark and say ooh look CPU X is so much better then CPU Y.
Its also worth notating that in that benchmark they run a GTX 690. I can say for sure but its possible that a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 is no longer enough to handle a dual GPU card of that caliber. Remember that PCI-E 3.0 is twice as fast as the old port. Before you jump the gun about the two 7950 remember that they are both using there own PCI-Express 2.0 x16 so they have the same amount of bandwidth available as the GTX690 on a single PCI-E 3.0 slot.
Lol wut? Crysis 3 was released two days ago...... Jesus Christ does anyone read anymore?
Been proven that there is almost no difference between PCIE 3 and PCIE 2
Proof please of the rest.....I would love to see a 5GHz 920 beating a 5GHz 3770k . Edited by Dimaggio1103 - 2/20/13 at 12:24pm
