Can I return a his 7970 that I put a waterblock on to newegg? I only had it for a week so if I put the fan cover on it, will they send me a replacement?

You should be able to, I dont see a reason why. If you want the same card, then I would contact the manufacturer, if you want something else then contact Newegg.

As long as there is not sticker that says warranty void if removed on any of the screws to remove the cover then you should be good. Just put it back and dont tell them that you removed the water block and you should be good to go.

I'm not sure of all brands, but my XFX has those stickers and they said that only applies to outside of the US. I've RMAed faulty XFX cards to the manufacturer in the past after removing my stock cooler. I doubt newegg will care, but I wouldnt mention it. Put everything back the way you had it and return it. As mentioned above, you may pay restocking fees.
