I'm thinking of moving my build from a HAF 922 to the HAF XB as it is a litter more of my taste. Before I do it, I want to paint the case white and blue, and install a custom plexi window on top among other things. I see some pretty sick renderings on some of these build logs, and I've been toying around in AutoCAD for a few days, and I can't even seem to make a decent looking box...
How long does it take you guys to usually do a full render? And are there repositories where I can download pre built models? Thanks for any help you can provide as I'd love to get a render going

I've been using Autocad for a very long time, and I still find it difficult to get really decent renders out of. It's rendering engine isn't anywhere near what other packages use, and it's camera handling is a pain in the butt. But I still use it, as I'm very familiar with it. Everything else is basically starting completely over.

Here's a render part way through a design I scrapped a while back.

yeah , Autocad internal engine is not THAT good for showoffs

keyshot is a good render program , just import your stuff , put some materials and render away!

the good thing about Solidworks is that it got a good render engine integrated in the Software , its not THAT deep like Keyshot but you could do prettier representations on the moment

idk, dont use CAD, i use autodesk 3Ds MAX. renders very quickly and looks great if you use the material editor.

i used 3ds Max in my college years , and that program is more to create stuff like game assets ... but ive seen some architectural stuff with 3ds Max , and the material editor and raytracing and rendering are pretty great , so no need to buy another software for those , but most importantly is the Riggin options i think , its an engine where you can make animations inside 3ds Max , no need to open another program , and thats the beauty of 3ds Max , it got it all to make assets for a game development company , then you can import those assets to an Engine suit of your choice , Unity , Unreal , Crytec , even import motions from .3ds so you dont have to on those engines

i ended up using solidworks after realizing that stuff was easier to make in it than in AutoCAD , but this was 2005 and autocad didnt had a cool rendering option ... it was just ... lines with pink and white and green and sometimes red colors ... THATS it for representations lol it was super boring

i remember making a spiral bolt from scratch , cartwheels ... stuff professors tell u to make lol to test some concepts

but we cant compare 3ds Max with Solidworks

i did some comparison with one of my "creations" and the Corsair 900D

its a more efficient in my view , removing the things you are not going to use , like 100 HDD trays , 10expansion slots for motherboards (because EVERYONE got a SR-2 or a XL-ATX (is that what is called? the one that can use 10 slots?) )

and can fit 2 monsta on top 120x4 in push pull , and same as above , got 3 places to put a PSU but on the bottom part , it will restrain that side to a 3x120 rad , i can make it smaller but i want to have the option for some 140 - 180 rad for the future
