You have SLI Compaddict, how about run only 1 card of yours which has 3G VRAM and see how much memory used in this game. This is for the information for us who has only single card biggrin.gif

Then you told me I have a problem with my system. I don't - it's you that doesn't understand/consider how much or little Vram a certain game uses at a certain resolution and certain graphics settings. Good advice? I don't think so on this occasion.

Why would any application measure the combined used Vram from both cards and display that as a percentage (or graph) of the total of only one? It allows for 200% Vram usage. Don't you think that would more likely be a bug that we're not all experiencing?

How are you certain that Crysis 3 isn't reserving 2.4GB Vram, reserved doesn't equal actually used/needed. Is there a way to measure what's actually used/needed? All these applications report the reserved Vram only? - It's the only indication available?

True...its a sign of the times that new engines are only going to get more intense. Plus, since the only two engines worth a damn (cryengine and frostbite) are getting more and more evolved, watch 4 and 6gb become the standard within 2 years. When I got my 5870 almost 4 years ago, 2 gb was laughable. To think youd ever need that much VRAM was insane. The same will happen in the very near future. Im not the biggest fan of futuristic type games like crysis, but I will play it, and I will respect how much theyve done with the engine and that its the top of the game right now. Sad to say, but above frostbite 2. I just wonder how insane frostibe (dare I say)....3....could be?

Just tested out Sli off and then on with my 670s, memory usage is the same. It sits between 1850-2005mb bah, I knew the doubling thing was to good to be true. On a side note I dunno whats up with the opening level with all the rain, I got almost the same fps with 1 card or 2, maybe 10fps difference and it was terrible both ways, however in multiplayer with way more going on "minus the rain" I never drop below 60. Probably the cpu bottlenecking things because of all the small moving particles.

/Crys I wish I got 2 7950s...

I'm not ashamed to say that I know nothing about VRAM usage and every thread I read confuses me more. I am pretty confident that adding another GPU doesn't double your VRAM available but I seem to remember being criticized on OCN at one point because...to quote a fellow OCN-er: "the actual usage reported is not what the card is actually using at that point in time"...?

I can't seem to find that thread now but does that make sense to anyone? It didn't make sense to me at all at the time and I never got a definitive answer. It was way back when I was deciding to go for 4GB 670s and someone told me that was stupid and pointless.

On topic: I am really looking forward to buying Crysis 3 and seeing what kind of benchmarks I can get with my 670s at 2560x1440. biggrin.gif

Its still going to work the heck out of those cards. I was honestly surprised at what theyd done with the new engine....that and how poorly optimized drivers still are. Watch with the subsequent driver releases how much VRAM usage will fall.

I was glad to see the game was so demanding in everyone's benchmarks so far. It appears to be that way because the graphics are actually good and not because the game is just terribly optimized too. Like you said, with new drivers the game should get a bit easier at least.

^ Just tried out TXAA vs MSAA 4X for fun. TXAA did indeed use about 200 less mb of vram but at the cost of 5-10fps during gameplay. IMO it looked a little better but I was no longer able to maintain 60fps.

Graphics memory usage

that is all.

I am getting way more then 1.6GB with FXAA. It depends in the mission you are one. The 3rd one is very demanding.
