The most demanding mission I've encountered is just below the Dam with the heli pad on it.

With my 7970@1200Mhz/1650Mhz at 1920x1080 and settings at absolute maximum (everything very high and 8xMSAA) the highest memory usage I've seen is 2929MB:

But you need to explore the whole area, so that it caches all textures into the memory:

In terms of FPS - average of 20, but dips to 15fps now and then. If I get inside a corridor where the turrets are I can get 40-50fps and looking at the ceiling I get around 70fps. Not very enjoyable to play outside, but 8xMSAA is an overkill anyway - at 1080p resolution 4xMSAA is more than enough and I use 4xSMAA, because it looks better to me.

On the most graphically demanding mission I get around 1700-1800MB usage and a minimum of 30fps. That's for 4xSMAA.

Here's a video I just made for 4xMSAA and 8xMSAA: http://youtu.be/NKuFGybyUgs

Um.. it is enough. I think most of the stuff in this thread has proven it. Because when people crank everything to the sun the vram usage goes up, but the fps tanks. So for playable settings.. it is more than enough.

It plays fine for me on ultra.

I ended up up selling the 680 and purchased a Asus DCII 7970 (and a new EK block) from a member here. I'm stoked for the 3gb vram! Will be getting a second one in the coming months as well. thumb.gif

Ultra with 8xMSAA? It plays fine? What do you call fine, because a guy just above you states that is not an enjoyable experience.
