2- netcode is client side. What you aim at is what you hit. I would say that's a good deal..

1- I prefer more sensibly paced "realistic" combat, I think a lot of people expected this from BF3 considering the history of the series (that being it was closer to realism, it wasn't all about "action" and it definetly supported the community better.
- this said I have over 600 hours in bf3 and still enjoy it.

2-What you aim is what you hit *HOWEVER* that is not what the player you are hitting sees. They see themselves running into cover and experiencing 1 tenth to 1 quarter of a second in that cover- then receiving the bullets you fired previously and dying "from around the corner" - it is VERY frustrating to those of us who focus on staying alive (like real soldiers do) instead of being a rambo.

Hmm as far as realistic combat I don't think that is what previous versions were aiming for. BF has always been a jump into game and have some fun kind of deal. Tactical shooters are a very small market anyways. I think bf3 strikes a good balance between realism and arcade for me as I do play alone.

And the getting shot behind corners thing is not something I would throw a whole game away for. It's somewhat of a minor issue and more a result of people just getting emotional that they died. But if they understand that this is a client server issue that cant be resolved then I think they would be able to reconcile with the fact.

BF3 is awesome for pick up and play, semi-Rambo, cinematic, movie esq, public server hoping gameplay. I think that is what the focus is, on the average player like me who has no friends to play with (Or none at all) smile.gif

The whole non stop super action hero pace of BF3 gets so boring after a while, its so repetitive and there is no change in atmosphere. I've played a lot of BF3 and the past BF games, BF3 just isn't as fun, there's something missing from it. Feels cheap and missing character, don't play it anymore, but each to his own.

I really like BF3 a lot. It's a great game. That being said I've barely played it at all since I hit the 50 hour mark like, 3 months after release.

I'm really hoping the new console generation brings some innovation to the FPS genre because I'm getting pretty sick of all of them. Even watching the Sony event today and seeing the new Killzone didn't excite me at all. It looked just like every FPS since COD 4. I'm not saying these are the only great shooters in a long time, but I feel like there has been very little innovation in the FPS field since Goldeneye and COD 4.

I dunno, I guess I just want to see something different.

REally? I have no attention span maybe that is why I enjoy it so much. biggrin.gif

I need stuff flying out of the screen to hold my interest.

Might be the wrong place to ask this, but Ive always wondered if this game is for me, but for as many videos and reviews I see I still cant make a decision.

Halo is fun, but I get bored pretty easily with it. I really liked Unreal Tournament 2004, tons of fun for me with the different types of combat.

at 10 bucks, maybe I cant go wrong!

If you like Halo and UT, you probably won't like this.

It's a slightly slower paced CoD with vehicles.

Don't misinform people. It's nothing like CoD.

It's a pretty decent game. It's a little bit further from the arcadey fast paced shooters that you're mentioning, but it's not a simulation. I think it's a happy medium. Maps are so-so.. Some are pretty good, but others (Metro or Damavand Peak) are a bit corridor-ish. The DLC packs are pretty good for the most part and add a lot of variety to the game (and for $35 for the Premium Edition, it's a steal..). Team-work isn't all that easy to find in most public servers, but once you find a few decent servers with active admins and a TS server or something like that and you stick to them, team-play gets a lot better. The sound design is also amazing and makes it very easy to get immersed in the game.

I would recommend it, but don't go in expecting anything like the games you mentioned, or CoD.
