That is a horrible comparison.
Apple is not a joke in the computer industry; anyone who knows enough about the tech industry respects Apple as a company who has helped the shaping the industry for decades. It's mostly a segment of self-proclaimed new-gen 'techies' that spearhead the Apple hate campaign.
Not to mention, Apple computers are fantastic machines, and held in highest esteem by professionals
. A huge amount of music creators, video editors and other graphic designers use Apple computers exclusively. Many of the best movies in the world are edited in FCP, and many albums edited with Logic Pro.
And while, say, a rMBP is very expensive. It uses the best mobile CPU, SSD, RAM, a very good GPU (basically a GTX 660m due to the clock and the VRAM - most GT 650Ms have 512MB of RAM and all of them run on much lower clocks), a great screen with the highest resolution, one of the highest contrast ratios, and with very good sRGB accuracy. Also, it gives you the highest battery technology, and a thin design providing excellent battery life while not cutting down on performance or adding bulk. You can argue that $2000 is a bit steep (which I agree with to some extent), but what you can't argue is that it's using components of the best consumer technology for all of its parts (except for GPU, but then again, it is not meant to be a gaming machine).
Beats are completely different. They are simply low quality. I am an audiophile who has heard hundreds of headphone setups, and the Beats have no redeeming quality whatsoever other than their design... which I find mediocre in any case. And then again, in my opinion, headphones (and speakers) are about sound first and foremost (and design is a minor factor).
But here is my question to you: Have you ever seen professionals
(ie sound engineers) use Beats headphones?

I know you're responding to someone else's comment... but still.Edited by born2bwild - 2/20/13 at 8:50pm
