[HR] Dr. Dre's Beats Sues Headphones Rival Yamaha - Page 7

Its like some company to put out new shirts with the same nike logo, only on the left side instead of the right and say "hey, they are different becasue its on the left".
Of course the owners of the "beats" franchise will be pissed and sue.

To be honest, I don't get yamaha. Instead of making their new headphones as a class of their own in quality of both sound and build, they are copying beats and going as "we are better than beats".

The Yamaha's are not similar enough for people to confuse them with Beats. Not even close.

Yamaha is offering a similar product and claiming it is better. They want you to buy theirs instead. Isn't that capitalism? Why does Beats have the right to sue Yamaha? It makes it seem like Beats doesn't stand by their product.

You're sadly mistaken.

Don't blindly hate on Apple. What's the need to drag Apple in here when its not even being discussed?

This. The Studio Mix'rs, for example, are actually nice sounding headphones, just extremely overpriced. If they didn't overprice their products to the extremes that they have they'd probably be looked down on alot less. This is the brands biggest problem over anything else. They actually make "some" good products (and Monster do aswell), they just overprice themselves radically. BOSE are just as guilty of this, so are Apple (how I'd love a Macbook Pro, just not at the price they're asking).

I have a pair of AKG K450's. They sound really good and rival most Beats headphones at a quarter of the price. However if the Studio Mix'rs were even half the price of what they are I'd buy a pair without even breaking a sweat. They're much more comfortable and sound much better than my AKG's taking into account what music I listen to.

I wouldn't touch Solo HD's, which seem to be the most popular, with a barge pole though. Even if they were the same price as my AKG's. I just don't think they sound good at all.

There is room for variation. Take my Beyerdynamic DT 880 Premium, for instance:

lachen.gif Yamaha just slapped Dr. Dre in the face. I've always like Yamaha, even their affordable stuff is typically really good for the price. Beats is a modified SkullCandy sold at premium prices.

Go Yamaha!

Yamaha does make good quality products but they are not the only ones who are attacking Monster for making such poor quality headphones.

Sony made the X headphones probably to stomp out this wild fire known as "Dre Beats"

Before I get labeled as a hater or something, I have done comparison tests between a pair of 20$ sonys (mdrzx100) and the dre beats, and the sonys won.

Not sure how I feel about "fashion accessory".

Honestly, comparing the two pictures in the source, It seems to me that the Yamahas look a lot better than the beats. From what I can see, the quality on the yamaha's are a lot better than the beats [exterior].

"Fashion" headphones are noting new. They excited way back in the 70's-80's too. Take the Koss KRD-711 "Red Devil" as an example. The more modern variation aka the "all show and now go" type of headphones also predate DR.Dre's Beats, Skullcandy being the prime example.

If DR.Dre really wanted to sue someone why not go for the O2 headphones that are endorsed by 50 CENT.

If you ask me they look every bit as much like the beats as the Yamaha (if not more so) and are celebrity endorsed "fashion" headphones just like the Beats
