Plus remember, most of you didn't play Diablo or Diablo 2, you played those games with the added expansion packs which made all the difference in the world.
In the meantime there's Path of Exile, although their fighting animations feel very disconnected and slow for a hack n slash rpg.
While I have played Diablo and D2 since launch, I know a lot of people were late adopters after multiple updates and expansions. And I honestly believe this is part of the problem. Although it should of technically picked up where it left off with skills, runes, charms and items and such, things didn't exactly go to plan. Blizzard North was axed and many of which work on the Torchlights now were the people that made Diablo what it is. When Blizzard brought in it's new team, they should have been told to keep a lot of the stuff that was already there and just expand on it. But they remade it from the ground up basically, and the whole project was scraped several times in the process.
I personally enjoy D3 still, and know many who do as well, that's because I didn't expect it to be a Diablo 2 clone. I knew that with a different dev team that it would take a different turn than it's previous version.
Yes it is different, but it isn't bad.

Having been in the PoE beta since the beginning I strongly disagree. Both are good games. And I won't be switching unfortunately, not until Blizzard shuts down the Diablo servers.
